The double standard of a false feminism

Crónicas de una Inquilina 22.01.2018 Ilka Oliva Corado Translated by: Jpic-jp.org

Feminism has become a political issue. Whether it seeks human rights for all or it stands against injustices that undermine only rights that actually are privileges of a few. Ilka Oliva Corado was born in Comapa (Jutiapa, Guatemala), in 1979. A teacher of Physical Education she was dedicated to soccer as a professional referee and to psychology studies (San Carlos University of Guatemala) until when, in 2003, she decided to emigrate as ‘someone without papers’ to the United States, crossing the Sonoran desert (Arizona).

Feminist marches pro Hillary Clinton! It is not necessary to have more than half an ounce of intelligence to know that these demonstrations are manipulated and that they look for interests having but nothing to do with gender rights. However, I understand the good will of many who decide to participate in them and I am not willing to generalize.

Any woman who believes that Hillary Clinton is a feminist has understood nothing at all of feminism, and worse when they support her and give her their vote. This is what has been happening in the United States with the wave of young women who were carried away by the emotion and Trump’s anti-gender discourse. They demonize Trump when they have his real copy every two meters away: in their homes, in schools, in their community, at their work; because men like Trump are a system product as Obama was, who turned out to be more Ku-Klux-Klan than the most Caucasian of the racists. Obama is a black pro system. That he is able to disguise himself and make people believe him is a different issue, as Clinton does with feminism.

Why these feminists who march against Trump did not march against Obama during his term, when hundreds of Syrian and Yemeni girls, adolescents and women died, due to the North American invasion of those countries? Why did they not take to the street when US soldiers raped at least 53 Colombian girls? Do not these girls, teenagers and women matter as much as those born in the United States? Why are these feminist women not interested in the foreign policy of their country, but rather they overlap it, silencing or justifying as their country was really only defending itself from terrorist attacks and invasion threats?

Why support a woman like Clinton who represents equal or worse danger in US foreign policy than Trump himself? And still worse, why having she as a feminism reference and urge young women to follow her? Why anti-system feminists have turned her supporters becoming an anti-Trump platform? Not need to go too far, why these multitudes of women do not form an anti-deportation front in favor of undocumented immigrants? This would be a laudable platform and with a clear message to the world.

Do gender rights of US citizens or US residents matter more than the human rights of those who are hardest hit by the system because they have no documents? Any feminist knows that gender rights are human rights, therefore a real feminist would never go out to demonstrate without demanding rights for minorities; where, looking at the gender side, there are also girls, teenagers and undocumented women. There are families who are split apart and not by the Trump administration: this comes from the Obama administration.

This happens because many of these false feminists who pack the United States streets, have undocumented women working in their homes, cleaning for them, taking care of their children while they attend university or work managing insofar to develop her professionality. It does not suit them that those of her servants get the same labor rights they demand for themselves and their herd! It would harm them as employers, they could not take any more advantage of those who work for them for peanuts. Those who care for their gardens are undocumented immigrants, who sow and harvest the fruits and vegetables they eat every day, they are too undocumented. Those who clean the bathrooms in the shopping centers, in the schools, in the universities are also undocumented. Of the undocumented people, everyone takes advantage. Who would want them to have labor rights if they should then to be paid according to the law?

Why then these feminists for human rights, if they know the danger whole families incur due to deportations, do not take a stand and demand an Integral Immigration Reform? It would be a clear and human example of wanting to change the system. No need to go sticking punches in the chest or self-proclaiming feminists. Feminism is demonstrated in action, not in recitals or in bacchanalia.

The sexual violations suffered by girls, adolescents and women by the US militaries outside the country are as important as those suffered by women born in or living in the United States.

Why these thousands and thousands of women did not protest the insolence of Trump regarding Palestine?

That is because they care nothing for the Palestinian women and nothing of what can happen to others in any part of the world caused by the US government. This is how big their double moral and false feminism are. Why did these women who self-flagellate during the marches not ask for an end to the Cuban embargo, the return of Guantánamo, a halt to the US’ invasions of other countries? Because what happens to people of other countries, whatever their gender, they care a ֍ᴥ⁂ about. What feminism then? There is a barbaric confusion regarding the concept of feminism among young North American women. Actually, no real feminist would support Clinton leading a US invasion of countries like Venezuela, as Clinton promised in Miami. No a real feminist would support the children and adolescents’ deportations who came to the country without company, as Clinton did when Obama decided ending the temporary program they had put up together to justify Mexican and the northern triangle of Central America militarization. A Clinton who gave continuity to the wall construction between Mexico and United States her husband had initiated! Trump is the typical man of his society as this false feminism is too. Being a feminist is not just about blowing and making bottles, feminism is lived with everyday actions, not with banners, bacchanalia and photos for social networks. We are light years away from a consistent, irreverent and human feminism. First of all human. Around there someone will say: "But from nothing to something". Justifying such a feminism by saying something is better than nothing, it is like kicking while drowning. And, please flowers, excuse my withering one of your petal but things are to be called by their names.
